Well…almost to the end of 2020…it’s been a difficult and strange year to say the least! Sadly I lost my dad on June 15th … a good long life of 94 years…I hope to be that fortunate!
COVID-19…WOW!! JUNE 22, 2020 …The week following my dad’s passing I entered the hospital with Covid Positive results, temperature 103 + but I didn’t really feel sick! Remember some of that day … the next think I know someone is asking me my name and what day of the month it is?? “I don’t know, June 26th” was my reply. Their response… “ No…it’s July 12th!” … 😳 … where have I been???
I had been on a ventilator for 17 days, not expected to live twice I am told by my family! I was out for all of it … LOTS of very strange dreams during that time!
I was discharged on July 21st … went home to an empty house for 2 weeks of quarantine! Mike had to work so he commuted from our lake house. I didn’t want to have anyone else have to quarantine. Our daughter checked on me daily, coming by with mail and deliveries after work each day. Our son and friends would also call me for updates and drop off meals. Blessings they were!!
Now December 12, 2020… I am still having after effects. Neuropathy numbness and nerve pain In my left foot. RX and physical therapy helping, have to be very careful walking. Going thru doctor appointments now for issues with my vocal cords because of being on the ventilator so long. Trying to regain my strength but get winded very easily!
I am now considered a “Longhauler” by medical groups because of Covid after issues. 🙄
That’s my COVID story…praying all of you are spared!!
Hoping 2021 will be a healthier Happy New Year!!🎉

My dear friend, I am so saddened by the passing of your Dad. He was such a Great and Funny guy. I always enjoyed spending time with him when we were working on class reunions. I will miss him. and I am so glad you survived the Covid. 2021 is already a good year because you are still here!!! Love, Kathryn

    ❤️Thank you Kathryn 😘

So sorry to hear about the passing of your father, Kathy. My sister lost her husband and her daughter during all this Covid stuff. Not to Covid but I know how hard it is to lose someone during this time of isolation. Her husband died at home, but we weren’t able to say good-bye or be there to comfort my sister. My niece died in the hospital and no one from the family was able to be at her bedside. Dave and I have kept ourselves busy keeping our food pantry going at church and learning how to do services online. Before Covid we served 25 to 30 families a week and now it is 80. Kathy I hope that you continue to recover and will eventually get your health back.

Jeanne Locatelli, so glad you are still alive and kickin! Sorry to hear about your dad. But at 94, he did quite well for himself. Both my parents were gone by 2018, Mom being 95 at the time. My brother (class of 1965) still lives in Aptos with his wife, formerly Kathy King from Soquel High. Yeah, Bob King, her brother was in our class and still lives in Bend, as I do also. I am having trouble accessing the Soquel High site since I switched from AOL to gmail. Not sure how to bypass CLASSMATES site and their unnecessary fees to access my class info. I’ve still managed to ski 10 days so far in January 2022 after open heart surgery in October. Patti and I tried crossing the Canadian Border on the way to Whistler, but our covid rapid test didn’t clear in time(72 hrs) and the polite border agents turned us around back to state side where we then skied Mt Baker the next day. Hey, life sometimes gives your lemons, and I like lemonade. All the best to you, Mike and your family.

Brent … SO GLAD you are still here too!!! WOW open heart surgery…explains why you were pretty quite on the Facebook postings. But, sounds like you have regained your strength and certainly enjoying the things you and Patti love to do.
I had to get a trach Easter Sunday of 2021, scarring from the 17 days on the vent in 2020 blocks my air way … so it is a struggle sometimes to talk … and you know how I like to talk!!!
Appreciate the reminder that you have a family connection with Bob King … his email was one that didn’t go thru when I sent out the reunion information … but he never seems to want reconnect. Say hi to Kathy when you chat next .. our families had some kind of social connection back in the day.
Hope to see you at the reunion … Take Care Stay Healthy … September 17, 2022 not to far away!!

I guess I was feeling nostalgic and found this blog. Very sorry to hear of your covid experience and hope for continued improvements. I just had prostate surgery (cancer). Now waiting for further labs results. I thought this stuff was suppose to happen to old people. Oh well, trying to enjoy all the little things that make up life. Still in Bend, as Brent said. Living on 40 acres, which seem to get bigger and bigger, or I”m getting slower in getting things done. Retired for 9 years now (except for rental property). Travelled with a fifth wheel trailer though Alaska and to Maine to see the fall tree color.Best wishes to everyone.

GOSH it’s GREAT to hear from you after all these years Bob!!! I didn’t realize til Brent clued me in that Kathy is married to his brother. Sorry to hear about your recent surgery, yeah this stuff isn’t supposed to happen to us YOUNG folk!!! Unfortunately we are learning of others medical hardships…guess that’s going to keep happening. Doesn’t seem like 55 years since high school in many ways…I know that’s the comment from a lot of our classmates. Do keep in touch … and if you get the urge for more nostalia come to the reunion September 17th!!! We might try a ZOOM during the evening … so stay tuned!!! WHAT’s your current email?? The messages I have sent get returned!!! Take care and stay healthy!!!

I was really happy to see everyone at the reunion by the zoom even though you couldn’t hear us on the other side we could hear everyone there. It was great seeing everyone. Thanks to you two Kathy and Jeannie for setting it all up. You look great! Everyone did!

Sorry to see so many of our classmates are deceased. One of the problems of getting old. I joined the Air Force band in 1968, and spent 3 years in Germany. Discharged in 1973, continued as a musician and graduated from San Jose State. Joined Intel as a temporary security officer and stayed 30 years, retiring as an IT technical architect. Married my wonderful wife Cheri in 1982, studied the Bible and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1989. now serving as an elder with a congregation on the Washington coast to date. Have survived a heart attack and several strokes, and still kicking.
